Some good news.
I’ve installed Ubuntu MATE 19.10 on mine. Apart from the touch screen, everything else works “out of the box”. 19.04 should work too.
I’ll prepare a bespoke Ubuntu MATE image for the P2 Max soon that will hopefully include a fix for the touch screen.
Please do so. I want Linux on mine and all working. Thank you.
Ubuntu Mate 19.04 (personally using on live usb) and I believe the 19.10 alpha MicroPC build (personally not tried) works out of the box except touchscreen but the touchscreen fix is here

Just a quick update.
I have today flashed BIOS to v.0.24
I have then formatted the Ubuntu MATE alpha partition and reinstalled Ubuntu MATE Eoan (19.10 Beta)
Touchscreen works out of the box, a quick few minutes play and everything else seems to be working ok.
(Caveat, I have not had time to test power management / resume from standby / battery performance or fan noise tweaks)
Hope this is good news for people.
